Welcome to my website! 
My name is Katharine Wright and I teach multiple subjects in a self-contained classroom within a Juvenile Court School (A.K.A Juvenile Hall) for grades 7th through 12th. This year I have had the privilege to teach the Female Maximum Security and Intake Class consisting of regular and special education students. My daily goal is to promote student achievement of grade level curriculum. This is accomplished as students receive assessments to determine skill/ knowledge building needs, goals and objectives in combination with their Individual Education Plans (IEPs). IEPs receive focus to ensure timely services are provided and Individual Learning Plans are developed to guide credit alignment with course assignments to achieve high school graduation requirements.
I have developed a blended education approach to support diverse student needs. Blended instruction varies daily to meet the highly transitional student population and includes:
- Teacher instructed/ modeled whole and small group instruction using a variety of resources (ViewSonic Presentation board & iPad promoting student participation with different online programs and hands on strategies- ex. book circles)
- Guided and Independent Learning with an emphasis on technology-based education through online programs: Odyssey ware; Renaissance Learning; Career Cruising; Google Expedition …
- Book circles, group discussions, debates, and student projects/ presentations supporting multiple subjects
